A Pair of 4CX250Bs for 2 metres

Ok - I must admit that his page is a bit of a con - but there is a 2 metre amplifier with a pair of 4CX250Bs in the photo, sitting under the bench in the rack cabinet.

This was my station circa 1975 with homebrew transverters on the shelf for 2, 4 and 70cms. The amplifier was built at college as part of a final year OND workshop project in 1973.

At the time I was active on OSCAR (6?) as can be seen from the satellite finder to the left of the HW101 speaker.

The HW101 was purchased as a kit in 1973, so I can claim to have operated a homebrewed station at that time. The HW101 and the JR310 receiver are still part of the station, but regrettably I sold the '250B amplifier.

And not a PC in sight!

But how did I survive without a Bird Thruline?
